Work

Jamila is currently a PhD student at the City University of New York’s Graduate Center in Social Welfare. They are a graduate of the Silberman School of Social Work program at Hunter College, with a Masters degree in Community Organizing and Program Development Social Work, with a specialization in Immigrants and Refugees.

They are also a Seminar in Field Instruction (SIFI) and an Adjunct Professor at Hunter College in the Community Organizing and Social Work departments. Jamils is also a rank-and-file member of the PSC- CUNY union. They are also a research consultant with several foundations and consults as a facilitator with multiple organizations, as well as consults on grassroots fundraising and organizing. They previously were a lecturer at Columbia School of Social Work in New York City.

Currently, Jamila is Chair of the Nominations Committee of the New York City Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers, a member of the Board of Directors for The Free Migration Project, and Steward at Hunter College and Silberman School of Social Work for the $7k Or STRIKE! campaign.
